Parents How you can help your children, and help us.

 Many of the foundation stones have already been laid before your children start school, so please....

- Give them your time.

Time to listen, talk with, to explain, to question

- Be positive and encouraging, build up their confidence

- Encourage their independence and self-reliance

- Give them many opportunities to explore their world, stimulate their curiosity and inquisitiveness

- Develop in them a love of books, poems, songs and stories

- Give them opportunities to cut, to draw, to build, to paint, to glue

 

And when they are at school...

- Take an interest in what they have been doing

- Follow up any topics by a visit to the library

- Help with any homework

- be positive and encouraging

- Read to them often

- Listen to those all-important few pages of reading every night

- Test addition/subtraction / multiplication/division facts

- Encourage discussion, seek opinions

- Give opportunity for self responsibility

- Attend school regularly
